Run Jordan, in Cooperation with Greater Madaba Municipality Launches the First Edition of the Madaba Mosaic Race 2026

Run Jordan has announced the launch of the inaugural Madaba Mosaic Race 2026, organized in cooperation with the Greater Madaba Municipality and with the support of the Greater Amman Municipality and the Jordan Athletics Federation. The race will take place on Friday, July 31, 2026, under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Firas bin Raad, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Run Jordan. The event aims to promote sports tourism while showcasing the rich historical and cultural heritage that distinguishes the city of Madaba.The race is the first of its kind to be held in Madaba, bringing together sport, heritage, and tourism in a unique experience that offers participants the opportunity to run through some of Jordan’s most significant historical and religious landmarks. The 10 km course begins at Mount Nebo and finishes at the Madaba Visitor Center, passing through key sites that reflect the identity of Madaba, internationally recognized as the “City of Mosaics.”
Run Jordan emphasized that launching this event aligns with its vision of expanding road racing across the Kingdom while showcasing Jordan’s cultural and tourism assets through sport, contributing to the promotion of domestic tourism and supporting local communities.
The event features two race distances: 10 km and 5 km. The 10 km race starts from Mount Nebo, while the 5 km race begins in the Al Faisaliah area, with both routes concluding at the Madaba Visitor Center. The courses have been carefully designed to provide participants with a unique experience that combines athletic challenge with the exploration of Madaba’s rich historical and cultural landmarks.
Ms. Lina El Kurd, General Manager of Run Jordan, stated that the Madaba Mosaic Race represents a valuable addition to the organization’s annual calendar of races, reflecting its commitment to promoting sports tourism and creating meaningful sporting experiences that celebrate Jordan’s heritage.
El Kurd added that the race welcomes runners of all nationalities, ages, and fitness levels—whether professional athletes or recreational participants—offering them a distinctive sporting experience in one of Jordan’s most historic cities. She also noted that the event is expected to contribute to boosting tourism and supporting economic activity in Madaba Governorate.
For his part, Eng. Haitham Al Jwaynat, Chairman of the Greater Madaba Municipality Committee, expressed his pride in the partnership with Run Jordan and the Jordan Athletics Federation to launch the first edition of the Madaba Mosaic Race. He emphasized that the event represents an important step toward establishing Madaba as a leading destination for sports tourism, by combining sport, history, and culture in a unique experience across the city’s most prominent landmarks. He also expressed his aspiration for the race to become an annual fixture on Jordan’s national sporting calendar, contributing to tourism growth, economic activity, and strengthening Madaba’s presence on the country’s sports event map.
